Nichole Dusyk

Senior Policy Advisor and Lead, Canada Energy

Nichole is a Senior Policy Advisor and Lead, Canada Energy for IISD’s Energy program. The focus of her work is providing research and analysis to support a transition away from fossil fuels and toward a more just and sustainable energy system.

Nichole has more than 10 years of experience undertaking research and advocacy on Canadian energy and climate policy. Prior to joining IISD, she worked at the Pembina Institute and was a postdoctoral researcher at Carleton University and Simon Fraser University. She has worked on legislation and regulations to improve climate change decision making and governance. Nichole has also conducted analysis on the regulation of pipelines, electricity infrastructure and regulation, and on small modular nuclear reactors. Nichole has a PhD in Resource Management and Environmental Studies from the University of British Columbia. Her doctoral research examined public participation in municipal energy planning and utility-scale renewable energy development in British Columbia. She also has a master’s degree in science and technology studies from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Alberta.
